Linux Distributions - Branding Confusion - And What DOESN'T Make A Linux Distribution Unique

Some people become overly loyal to a specific Linux distribution, when the thing(s) they like the most about the Linux distribution can be found in ANY and ALL Linux distributions.

People often work with a Linux distribution for a while and become comfortable with using it, and this causes them to think that "their" Linux distribution is the best - without trying any or many other Linux distributions!

Some Linux distributions, and especially some of the

(expensive and heavily branded) "major" Linux distributions enjoy a huge amount of Linux "distribution loyalty" for that particular Linux distribution - based on reasons that are no different from any other Linux distribution.

Linux Commands Training Tips: Learn the "generic" GNU Linux commands to do Linux system administration because these Linux commands work virtually the same in ANY and ALL Linux distributions.

Learn to use GNU Linux commands on several Linux distributions (to see for yourself that they are almost always identical from one Linux distribution to another) - and avoid Linux "distribution loyalty" when it isn't founded on any Linux distribution differences.

Here's What A Linux Distribution Isn't - And What A Linux Distribution Didn't Create!

A Linux distribution did not create ANY of the following Linux distribution software components:

the Linux OS kernel - this is created and maintained by Linux Torvalds and other members of this project

the GNU Linux commands - which were created by the GNU project and are virtually identical in all Linux distributions

the Apache Web server - the most popular web server in the world - this was created by the Apache Web Server Project, NOT by Linux distribution ABC, DEF or GHI (put in popular Linux distro names for ABC, DEF and GHI)

the Samba server - an extremely popular Windows compatible file server - created by, you guessed it, the Samba Server Project and NOT by Linux distribution ABC, DEF or GHI

OR - ANY - OF THE OTHER LINUX DISTRIBUITON SOFTWARE COMPONENTS (ALMOST) - these were NOT created by Linux distribution ABC, DEF or GHI

In fact, except for a few very minor exceptions (as a percentage of the Linux software in a Linux distribution) Linux distribution ABC, DEF or GHI didn't create ANY of Linux distribution software at all!
