Why GNU Linux Commands Are Better Than GUI Utilities for Linux System Administration
To do Linux system administration tasks, you can use GNU Linux commands or use a Linux GUI utility (that can only be used in a single Linux distro). Here's why learning to use a Linux GUI utility is a bad
idea.
Using Linux GUI utilities for Linux System Administration - Cons and Cons
Many Linux distributions have "point-and-click" GUI (graphical user interface) utilities that allow you to do common and popular Linux tasks, like: create Linux users, manage program and data files in the Linux file system, and manage Linux user permissions and group permissions.
And these Linux GUI utilities are specific to a single Linux distribution - and only work in ONE Linux distribution.
So, learning how to use a Linux GUI in one Linux distro is basically useless if you have to use a different distro later - such as when your organization changes to one of the other 130 other Linux distros.
It's also extremely confusing to use Linux GUI utilities if you're working in an environment that has lots of different Linux distributions that are being used - because you have to use one GUI utility in one distro - and then use a different GUI utility in a different distro.
Linux Training Tips: To run a Linux "point-and-click" GUI utility, you need to have a Linux desktop installed (to get the "point-and-click" environment required by a GUI utility) - and often a desktop isn't installed on a Linux server because it isn't needed. So you can't use the GUI utility on that Linux server!
In addition to this, the Linux system admin pros only use GNU Linux commands because the "point-and-click" Linux GUI utilities are: way too slow to start up, very cumbersome to use (because they take too many clicks), and so they are also very time-consuming to use.

Keep in mind that if you just learn how to use Linux GUI utilities in one distro - and then you have to change to a different distro - then you have to learn all the GUI utilities that are in the next Linux distro.
If you learn how to use the GNU Linux commands, then you learn how to use Linux for ALL Linux distros!
